In our post tonight about market conditions, Chinese Internet firm Netease was one of the top three stocks in the IBD50. I went and looked at my Chinese Internet watchlist in TC2000. DATE had a 13.29% uplift today. Not too inclined to risk money there, but SINA and BIDU were in the green today and I am going to keep a close eye on them to see if they return to their uptrend. CYOU looks to have started back already but on thin volume.
SOHU was up 1.03% on volume above its 50-day moving average. SOHU did not participate in the lift SINA and BIDU enjoyed the last few weeks. I have to ask, does that look like a cup with handle to you? ( Click for full size)
I also have to wonder if Google’s breakout will help some of these stocks, particularly BIDU.
IBD50: +3.15% v. SPY +1.37%
Winners: FTNT +8.45%, BIDU +7.97%, APKT +6.84%

- Rydex EW: RTM, RCD, RYE
- iShares: IYM, IYJ, IYE
- Vguard: VAW, VCR, VIS
The IBD50 did a little better than our benchmark ETF SPY today, +0.37% versus -0.07%. The IBD50 had thirty one winners and 19 losers.
Of the top three winners today, I have previously held two for good results (EZPW and TSCO). I held PRGO many years ago and it intrigues me today:
- EZPW +3.42%
- PRGO +2.96%
- TSCO +2.38%
The biggest losers today, as it were, weren’t exactly aweful today:
- AH -2.40%
- AAPL -1.77% (that I-Cloud continues to work for AAPL, clearly)
- BIDU -1.69%
The IBD50 newbies as a group were -0.15% as a group on the day, four winners, three losers with AAPL the biggest drag on the group:
